The most important sustainable event in the city has already the confirmation of 36 Mayors and city representatives from the largest cities in the planet. C40 Sao Paulo Summit – a conference that brings mayors together to tackle climate change and promotes sustainable development – will take place for the first time in a South Hemisphere city and will put Sao Paulo in the center of global environmental issues.
C40 Brazilian city members, such as Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba, will integrate the Latin American representatives from Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Caracas and Santiago that confirmed participation at the event. From USA, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle will also have representatives in the summit. The Mayor of New York City and Chair of the C40, Michael Bloomberg, will attend the opening ceremony hosted by Mayor of Sao Paulo Gilberto Kassab.
